5 Things I Learned About Writing in 2010

I pledge to return with renewed vigor in January 2011! I bow down, for now, before the altar of teaching (I returned this fall semester to teaching after a ten year hiatus from the formal classroom). I did manage to post, in response to She Writes co-founder Deborah Siegel’s prompt “5 Things I Learned About Writing in 2010,” to my She Writes blog.

Motherhood, Matrices, and Accountability can be read here:

Happy Holidays...your teaching does have a holiday, I hope? Look forward to reading more of your work in 2011.

Wonderful post over there. Very affirmative stuff. As soon as I finish this comment I am going to work --even just for fifteen minutes-- on a draft of a novel. I've broken it down into tiny tasks (I've always heard this advice before but never actually done it) and each one alone is perfectly manageable.
Like your stuff about "No". I think a lot about how every Yes to someone else's request or need or whatever is a "No" to your own goals.

Jeannette, entering grades right now; yes, there is a down breath, and I'm ready for it. Re-entry took a lot; also nourishes. Will be your way as well. A pleasure.

Rachel, I'm with you...I can't remember not using the mosaic method to survive balancing life's demands and the insatiable urge to write.

Ethel...I raise my tea cup to yours...here's to another year of writing behind us and so many more stretching before us.
